In July 2022, the idea for BinMates was born when one of our co-founders, Armaan, worked as a Bylaw Enforcement Officer in North Vancouver. He enforced a strict policy that bins cannot be left overnight at the curb to avoid attracting bears and other wildlife to residential areas.

Armaan's love for wild animals made him feel uneasy about the possibility of them being put down due to human negligence. Hence, he decided to start BinMates to prevent this situation from occurring.

Initially, he began by assisting elderly individuals with accessibility issues, but soon he was approached by others, including shift workers and rental-property owners, who were looking for a hassle-free solution on garbage day.
